Air Conditioning Installation

If there's a room, an addition or a whole floor that's never cooled properly, or a house that's never had central air, we size the system from the space and install ducted or ductless AC.

When people call us for a new AC

We install air conditioning in additions, in converted spaces and in houses that never had central air.

  • A room or floor the current system has never cooled properly
  • An addition or conversion with no ductwork reaching it
  • Window units doing work you would rather a permanent system did
  • A house on its first central cooling system

What changes the price

  • Whether there's ductwork we can use, or it has to be run
  • How much capacity the house really needs
  • Any electrical work at the panel

How we work

Sizing comes before brands

We work out what your house and its ducts can carry before we talk brands or efficiency ratings. Until that's known, a price by tonnage or brand doesn't mean much, so we don't publish one.

  • If you've already bought a condenser, we can install it. Have the model number ready for the walkthrough.
  • The estimate is free. It comes in writing, by text, with the price and a link to approve it.

Before you buy a new AC

It gets sized off the old unit's label, and the house stays clammy.

We size from the house itself, its square footage, insulation, windows, which way it faces and what the ducts can carry. An oversized unit leaves the house cool and clammy. The sizing comes to you in writing.

Cooling the addition will mean tearing up ceilings.

Not always. A ductless system often costs less than running new ducts, and it's far less disruptive. Mini split or central AC.

Install day turns into improvising.

We settle the electrical, the condensate and where the unit sits before install day. The written estimate reaches you within 24 to 48 hours of the walkthrough and shows how we picked the size.

The crew leaves a mess.

Cleaning up line set scraps, drywall dust from a new chase and the packaging is part of the install. Have it named in the quote anyway.

When to add cooling around DC

Put it in during the mild months, ahead of the late June to August rush. The first heat wave is the worst week to be shopping for a system. See what moves the price of a new AC.

How the job runs

  1. 1We measure the space and note the insulation, the windows, which way it faces and what the existing ducts could carry.
  2. 2The sizing comes to you in writing with the options that fit it, ducted and ductless both where both would work.
  3. 3Power, the condensate route and where each piece of equipment goes are agreed before install day.
  4. 4We install the system, charge it to the maker's spec and commission it with readings.
  5. 5Before we leave we walk you through it, set up the thermostat and hand over the paperwork.

AC Installation questions we get asked

Do I need ductwork?

⌄
Not always. Where ducts would mean opening ceilings and giving up closet space, a ductless system often costs less and makes far less mess.

How do you decide the size?

⌄
From the house, never from the old equipment. Oversizing is the most common mistake, and it leaves the house cool but clammy.

Two warranties, kept separate

Our installation carries a 60 to 90 day warranty, depending on the job. The new condenser, coil or mini split head carries the manufacturer’s warranty.

Install day already planned

Power, drain route and equipment location are agreed at the walkthrough, so the crew arrives with a plan.
