HVAC Replacement

If the old system just failed again and you're not sure it's worth another repair, we give you two prices, the repair and a replacement sized from your house, and you decide.

What a replacement includes

  • AC Replacement
  • Furnace Replacement
  • Heat Pump Replacement
  • Full System Replacement
  • Ductwork Inspection
  • Old Equipment Removal

Repair or Replace

You get both numbers, the repair and the replacement, and the call is yours.

Sized From the House

The square footage, insulation, windows, which way the house faces and what the ducts can carry set the size. The label on the old unit doesn't.

Ductwork First

We inspect the ducts before we order equipment. A new system on leaky ducts underperforms from the first day.

Matched Systems

When a mismatched indoor and outdoor pair is behind the poor performance, we replace them as a matched set.

Removal and Disposal

We take the old equipment away, dispose of it and leave the site clean.

Commissioned With Readings

We charge it to spec, commission it with readings and give you the paperwork.

What people usually call us about

  • How long should a system last here?

Usually twelve to fifteen years, and less if it spent years short cycling or running on a clogged filter. Our long, humid cooling seasons wear a system faster than a dry climate would.

  • Will new equipment fix my hot upstairs?

Often not on its own. Long or leaky ducts to the upstairs and a hot attic cause the same complaint, and a bigger unit won't fix either one. That's why we inspect the ducts first.

How we work

One written price for your house

You get one written price for your house. We never quote per ton or per brand. The estimate is free, and it comes by text 24 to 48 hours after the walkthrough with a link to approve it.

  • If you already bought the furnace or condenser, we'll install it, and the estimate covers only our work.
  • We're not part of any utility, government or low income assistance program right now, so the number you see doesn't count on a rebate.

Before you replace your system

You get sold a system you don't need yet.

We give you both prices, the repair and the replacement. A system under about ten years old that holds its refrigerant and has one failed part is usually worth repairing.

The upstairs stays hot anyway.

A bigger unit often won't fix that. We inspect the ducts before we order equipment, because a new system on leaky ducts never does what it should.

The old unit and the mess stay behind.

We take the old equipment away, dispose of it and clean up. Make sure that's in the estimate.

The install date keeps moving.

Most home changeouts take one day once the equipment is on site. We text you the date, time and address, and if the ducts need work we tell you before we schedule.

The best time to replace a system around DC

A failing system is easier to replace in April or October than in July, when schedules are full. The first freeze, around November 12, closes the fall window for a furnace. See how a replacement runs.

HVAC Replacement Request

We take insurance jobs. Financing may also be available for qualifying projects. Ask when you call.

How the job runs

  1. 1We find out what failed and what fixing it would cost.
  2. 2You get the repair price and the replacement price side by side, and you choose.
  3. 3If you replace, we size the new system from the house and inspect the ducts before ordering anything.
  4. 4We pull the old equipment, install the new system and commission it with readings.
  5. 5We walk you through the new system, set up the thermostat and leave the paperwork with you.

HVAC Replacement questions we get asked

Is it cheaper to replace furnace and AC together?

⌄
Usually, when both are near the end of their life. It's one visit, one removal and one set of permits, and the equipment is matched. If one of them is still young and sound, replacing it early saves you nothing. We write up prices for both together and for each on its own.

How do you decide what size system I need?

⌄
From the house, its square footage, insulation, windows, which way it faces and what the ducts can carry. Copying the old unit's label just repeats whatever was wrong with the first install.

Should I repair this one more time instead?

⌄
Usually yes, if it's under about ten years old, holds its refrigerant and only one part failed. You get both numbers and you decide.

How long does a replacement take?

⌄
Most home changeouts take one day once the equipment is on site. Duct repairs can add time, and we tell you that before we schedule.
