Furnace Installation

A renovation, an addition or a furnace that died for good all end with the same job, a new furnace sized from the house. We plan the venting before install day, and we'll install a furnace you bought yourself.

When people call us for a new furnace

We put in furnaces across Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia for renovations and conversions, and for houses switching fuel or changing system type.

  • A renovation or addition that needs its own heat
  • A system being changed from one type to another
  • A property with no working heating system

What changes the price

  • Capacity and efficiency of the equipment
  • The venting, which changes with the efficiency level
  • The condition of the ductwork and any changes it needs

How we work

If you already bought the furnace

We'll install a furnace you bought yourself. Give us the make and model when you book. At the walkthrough we check it against the venting, the combustion air and where the condensate will drain, so any problem turns up before install day.

  • Our 60 to 90 day warranty covers our installation work. The furnace is covered by its maker's warranty on the maker's terms, and a claim on the unit goes to the maker.
  • We don't publish furnace prices by brand or size. The written estimate prices your house, and it costs nothing.

Before you buy a new furnace

The new furnace repeats the old mistakes.

We size from the house and the ducts already in it, and we put the options and our reasoning in writing.

A high efficiency furnace hides extra costs.

It changes the venting and adds condensate, so it can't be a straight swap. We price both kinds side by side and plan the venting, combustion air and condensate before install day.

You wait weeks for a number.

We confirm the walkthrough by text, and the written quote reaches you within 24 to 48 hours, laid out so you can hold it next to other bids.

The old furnace and the dust stay behind.

Hauling out the old furnace and sweeping the basement or closet is part of the job. Get it written in the estimate anyway.

When to replace a furnace around DC

Replace it before the cold comes. Heating demand climbs with the first cold snap and stays high December through February. In September or October you can go a day without heat and not notice. See when to replace a furnace.

How the job runs

  1. 1We size the furnace from the house and check what the ducts already there can carry.
  2. 2The flue or vent route, the combustion air and the condensate drain are all decided before install day.
  3. 3You get the furnace options in writing, with why we picked each one.
  4. 4We install and vent the furnace, commission it and safety test it.
  5. 5We show you how it runs and leave the paperwork and the warranty registration.

Furnace Installation questions we get asked

Should I choose a high-efficiency furnace?

⌄
Often, yes. A high efficiency unit needs different venting and a condensate drain, which makes it more than a straight swap. We price both so you can see the difference.
