HVAC Repair

The system runs, but the house never gets comfortable. One technician comes out, finds whether the fault is in the cooling, the heating, the thermostat or the ducts, gives you the price and fixes it.

Repairs we handle

A repair with us is one technician, a diagnosis and then a price. A failed capacitor, contactor, condensate pump, blower motor or control board is an ordinary repair on a system with years left in it. If it's something worse, we tell you.

  • AC Repair
  • Heating Repair
  • Furnace Repair
  • Heat Pump Repair
  • Thermostats
  • Ductwork

No Cooling

The vents blow warm, or the system runs and the house stays hot.

No Heat

The system calls for heat and nothing comes, or it lights and drops out a minute later.

Short Cycling

Quick on and off bursts instead of full cycles. It's hard on the equipment, and the house never reaches the setting.

Noise and Smell

A new rattle, grinding or smell. Have it checked before it turns into an expensive repair.

Uneven Rooms

One floor or room never matches the rest. That's often a duct or insulation fix, and the equipment is fine.

Thermostat Faults

It reads wrong, loses its schedule or stops talking to the equipment.

The idea behind this work

Two numbers, in writing

When a repair is big enough that you start wondering, we write up two prices, one for the repair and one for a replacement sized to the house. If the repair only buys you a season, we say so.

Before you book HVAC repair

Nobody can tell you which part is failing.

The technician tests the electrical side, the refrigerant charge, the airflow, the control signal and the condensate path, and then tells you where the fault is, in the cooling, the heating, the thermostat or the ducts.

You get a surprise number at the door.

We give you the trip and diagnosis fee on the call. After testing you hear which part failed and the price, and nothing starts until you say yes.

The part has to be ordered.

We stock capacitors, contactors, motors and other common parts on the van, so a lot of repairs get finished on the first trip.

Nobody comes while the house is too hot or too cold.

We set the repair visit for the next day in a stated window. Tell us if there's no heat or no cooling when you book.

When systems break down around DC

Repair calls come in two waves, late June through August and December through February. A problem caught at a spring or fall check gets fixed when it suits you. See what an HVAC repair costs.

We take insurance jobs. Financing may also be available for qualifying projects. Ask when you call.

How the job runs

  1. 1Tell us what the system is doing and when it started. That narrows things down before we get there.
  2. 2The technician tests the electrical side, the charge, the airflow, the control signal and the condensate path.
  3. 3You hear what failed and why, and you get the price before any work starts.
  4. 4We make the repair and run a full cycle to see that it holds.
  5. 5If the repair only bought you a season, we tell you.

HVAC Repair questions we get asked

Do you charge to diagnose an HVAC problem?

⌄
Yes, and we tell you the fee when you book, before anyone drives out, so the number at the door is one you already heard.

Can you repair any brand?

⌄
Yes. The common parts ride on the truck, so a lot of repairs get finished on the first visit.

How quickly can someone come out?

⌄
The next day, with a real arrival window, anywhere we work in Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. If the house has no heat or no cooling, tell us when you book.
