HVAC Maintenance, Tune-Ups and Ductwork
A weak capacitor, a dirty coil or a clogged condensate drain is cheap to deal with in April and expensive in July. A tune-up finds them when it suits you, and a clean system with the right refrigerant charge uses less power.
What a tune-up covers
We check the coils, the refrigerant charge against the maker's spec, the electrical connections and capacitors, the condensate drain and pan, the blower, the airflow and the thermostat. On a furnace we add the safety inspection.

HVAC Maintenance
You find the failures when it suits you, instead of in the middle of a heat wave.
Thermostat Installation
The thermostat is old or unreliable, or it was never set up for the system it runs.
Ductwork Repair
One part of the house is never right, even though the equipment checks out.
What people usually call us about
How often should the system be serviced?
Cooling before summer and heating before winter. A system that does both gets two visits a year, and one that only heats or only cools gets one.
How we work
The plan we point people to
That's the Biannual Tune-Up Plan. We come in spring to check the cooling and in fall to check the heat. Filters get replaced, you get priority scheduling, and repairs are 10 percent off.
- If you'd rather pay once a year, the Priority Service Membership covers the annual tune-up, puts you at the front of the line, drops overtime fees and takes 15 percent off repairs.
Before you book a tune-up
The tune-up turns out to be a sales visit.
We write the readings down so next year's visit has something to compare against. Anything extra gets its own price, and it's your call.
Somebody swaps the filter and calls it done.
We go through the coils, the refrigerant charge, the electrical connections and capacitors, the condensate drain and pan, the blower and the airflow. On heating equipment we add the safety inspection.
The plan ends up costing more than paying per visit.
We give you the single visit price too, so you can do the math. See the maintenance plans.
The visit date keeps drifting.
You pick the week, and we text you the date, time and address. That window holds unless we call you first. Spring and fall book up early.
When to book maintenance around DC
The average last freeze is around April 1 and the first around November 12, so book the cooling check in April or May and the heating check in September or October. The DC heating and cooling calendar has it month by month.

We take insurance jobs. Financing may also be available for qualifying projects. Ask when you call.
How the job runs
- 1We check the cooling before summer and the heating before winter.
- 2We take readings on the charge, the electrical side, the airflow and the temperature split, plus combustion on gas heat.
- 3We clear the condensate line and drain.
- 4You get what we found, and anything extra comes with its own price for you to decide on.

What a tune-up from us includes
Readings you keep
We write down the charge, electrical and airflow numbers at each visit, so a slow decline shows up before it turns into a breakdown.
Fixes found on a tune-up are warranted
A part you approve replacing at a tune-up carries our usual 60 to 90 day warranty on the work.
